Description
Explore the Paris Catacombs, an eerie journey into the city's history dating back to 1788. Built in the old Tombe-Issoire limestone quarries, the catacombs were used to relocate bones from overcrowded Paris cemeteries, including the infamous Les Innocents. Stones from these quarries helped construct iconic landmarks like Notre-Dame and the Louvre. Before entering the tunnels, a somber quote greets visitors: Arrete, c’est ici l’empire de la mort, marking the beginning of a mile-long tour. Descend 130 steps to explore dark passages adorned with bones and inscriptions, some religious, others poetic, evoking deep reflection. For a contrasting experience, enjoy a scenic Bateaux Mouches cruise along the Seine, offering stunning views of Paris landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Musee d'Orsay, and Notre-Dame
