Замок Одавара считается символом города и одной из значимых крепостей региона Канто. Он был главной резиденцией клана Ходзё — самурайского рода, который управлял этими землями на протяжении около века, начиная с конца XV столетия. Впоследствии замок служил опорным пунктом на стратегически важном маршруте Токайдо и перевале Хаконэ. В 2016 году в замке завершились масштабные работы по сейсмоусилению конструкций и обновлению внутренней экспозиции — сейчас всё это в отличном состоянии.
